Chapter 42

11:41 p.m. Passion Ministry

After hours of prayer and contemplation, the Apostle heard the Word.

JohnHe had been drawn again to the little chapel, finding comfort in Christ’s face. Writing the press release as the clock ticked into Easter Sunday, he felt calm. His duties were so obvious. I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me. He would need help, but there was one who desired redemption.

“It’s come full circle,” he whispered. Touched his right side, aching to suffer for Christ again. He had sinned and failed to protect Jimmy. God’s everlasting grace had been withdrawn. But infinitely forgiving, the Creator had given him another chance.

With a trembling hand, John addressed an envelope: To Sheila Drysdale. Do not open until 11:55 a.m., Easter Sunday.

John leaned back, thankful for the pew’s solid support.

Soon, Oscar would arrive.
