Chapter 28
Maundy Thursday, April 1, 5:44 p.m. Passion Ministry
Numbed from the staggering news, Brendan found himself alone in the Ministry’s main recording studio. One wall was decorated with framed CDs, copies of the Ministry’s gold, platinum and multi-platinum Billboard awards. Recordings that hours before were like his beloved children.
“No!” he cried out, haunted by Virginia earlier television report.
“...the Passion Ministry seems to have been a cover, a shroud if you will, over the world’s greatest scientific experiment. No one knows the extent of the staff’s knowledge about James Jacobs’ real identity; however, we suspect the Apostle’s key personnel are in the know.”
“The fuckin’ witch! Lies, all lies!” He smashed a framed copy of The Message, John’s first multi-million-selling album.
He could taste her lips. Couldn’t believe he had fallen for her.
“No one has the right to create life,” he screamed. “No one but God!” In an uncontrollable fury, Brendan destroyed every thing he could grasp. Finally, he reached inside the safe, fingering the tape reels containing the music masters.
He sighed. The songs were his legacy. He leaned against the wall and recalled the mysterious blue-eyed man’s instructions. “Yes, he must be punished. They must be punished.”
But how? What act would be lethal, undeniable yet profound?
Minutes later, Brendan knew how he would get back at the traitorous witch and his sacrilegious boss. This tour de force would be his new legacy.
