3:30 p.m. Passion Ministry

“We may have to call off the Easter celebrations.”

“C-c-call off...whoa, wait a minute, John!” blurted Phil. “I know another abortion doctor’s been killed but aren’t we being a bit hasty?”

“I’ve just spent the worst night of my life.” John rubbed his eyes. “I’m exhausted and my son’s very sick. We need another specialist. And something strange’s happening here. Easter’s the last thing on my mind.”

“I know, I know. I’m worried about the little guy, too, but maybe he’s just going through a bad patch? Could be better by tomorrow, right, Andy? Still gives us three days ‘til Sunday.”

John looked at Andrew. Andrew was watching Phil. Phil avoided his friend’s eye. “Yes, sure,” Andrew finally replied. “Kids can be very resilient.”

“So...you’re not overly concerned?”

“I’m always concerned about my patients, Phil,” Andrew snapped.

Phil“Of course. Look, John, a lot of disciples around the world’re counting on this weekend. They need you. We need you. Nobody else brings religious leaders together in a multi-denominational Christian celebration. The fact that they’re all coming—” Phil slapped the desk. “—that says everything. It’s because of you.”

“It is a remarkable thing, isn’t it?” John said. Andrew nodded.

“You know it, man! It’s unique. Besides, Jimmy’ll get the best care no matter what you do. That’s why we pay the old man so much!”

Old man?”

John smiled affectionately at Andrew’s reaction. “Okay, Phil. We walk by faith, not by sight.”
